My sweetie started K4 this year! Olivia is back in school and absolutely LOVING her new teacher and lots of new friends, as well as a few old ones.
Olivia is thriving being back at school surrounded with all the exciting things to do, kids to play with and anything hands on! Just like she is learning and growing, I am also. Everyday there seems to be something new I learn about her and the way her little mind works. I absolutely love seeing her learn new things and experiment. (I don’t totally love all the messes that come with learning but it’s worth it! Ha)
I’m a bit late getting this written which means I have some fun updates about Olivia and school!
Olivia just went through an evaluation to see where she’s at, and she’s doing really really well. She could use some more time coloring inside the lines, and practicing not taking things from others. Her teacher has been extremely sweet and things have been pretty smooth this year so far.
I have one school story I have to share because I need to make sure it’s written down somewhere! Haha!
Last year Olivia refused to take her school portrait, she took the one with her class. And I got a note home that she just simply refused to take the photo. So for me that’s total irony right… the photographers child who cheeses all day refuses to take a photo for someone else.
Let’s fast forward to this year, we get the schedule for the school portraits and I immediately start talking to her about them. We plan her outfit, we talk about last year and why she didn’t take the photo. Olivia and I had an agreement that she would take her school portrait this year. I felt SO hopeful and didn’t think twice about it.
I KNEW this kid was going to take her first ever standard school portrait. Oh and this isn’t like typical schools where you get a make up day if you’re not feeling it or out sick. This is a one and done for the year!
Olivia gets in the car after school and as I wait for her to buckle I check her school folder for all the things. I pull out the photo form and at the tippy top in tiny black letters it spells REFUSED.
She did it again. After all the talking and planning and setting expectations, she refused her photo again!!
I couldn’t do anything but laugh, my kid. Whew! They surely have a mind of their own and can really surprise you.
SO thankfully I don’t depend on school photographers and she cooperates for her mama for photos!
I hope you enjoy my very own sour patch kid, let me know in the comments your fav!
Hugs,
Carissa
